‘And it was so.’
The process of creation fascinates me, and I love to think about what it must have been like to actually see it happen before my eyes.
What has stood out for me most while reading this first chapter of Genesis, has been this small yet life changing observation. When God says something is going to happen, it WILL come to pass. It’s something many of us know, something that our faith is built upon, but do we always remember it when we need to? I know I don’t.
6 times in the very first chapter of the whole of the Bible, we are told that when God speaks things over our world, our lives, they shall be done. In simple terms, ‘And it was so.’
At the beginning of this new year, I needed to hear this afresh. There is no need to doubt, or reason to forget the promises God has made over your life, or the life of someone you love, because there is no such thing as a broken promise in the mind of your creator.
We all know that ‘Love never fails’. It’s another of the most read parts of the Word of God. Here I see it in action, 6 times, over 6 days, the love of our Father, providing for us from the very beginning, step by step bringing Him and His creation closer and closer to each other.
These are first events of many, that will eventually unfold into the greatest ever story of God embracing Man.
‘Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.’ (Josh 21:45 NIV)
‘Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.’ (Psalm 145:13 NIV)
‘For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.’ (2 Cor 1:20 NIV)
